Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers went scorched earth on a few of his teammates (unnamed) during his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday.
Rodgers said there are too many mental mistakes being made by Green Bay players. And he thinks maybe some reps need to be cut and guys who aren’t playing should get a chance.
Aaron Rodgers: “Guys who are making too many mistakes, shouldn’t be playing. Gotta start cutting some reps. Maybe guys who aren’t playing, maybe give them a chance.”

Here’s a video of his comments.

That’s a pretty harsh public statement from Rodgers. But based on how the Packers have been playing, he’s not wrong. Whether or not that was the right place to say it can be debated plenty. But ultimately, Rodgers is correct that Green Bay is making way too many mental mistakes.
Former Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings, however, doesn’t quite see it the same way. Or at least he doesn’t think saying those words in public was wise.
When things are going great, there’s never any drama like this. But when you’re 3-4 and tied in the NFC North with the rebuilding Chicago Bears…well it’s not a surprise that some drama is emerging from Green Bay.
Former Packers WR Greg Jennings on Aaron Rodgers’ comments today on McAfee:
“You can’t do this … You can’t sit down on a show and start talking about who should and shouldn’t be playing because of mental errors.”

Rodgers is one of the greatest players of all time. That’s the only reason he can make these comments without repercussion. Rodgers, though, felt it was something that needed to be said. And maybe it’s the right move. Maybe it will help the Packers get over the hump.
Whatever the case may be, there’s no doubt that Rodgers’ comments are going to be offputting to a lot of folks.
