Impressive stat shows just how much Andy Reid has dominated the division

The Kansas City Chiefs have run the AFC West for the last seven years now, as they are the winner of the division in seven straight seasons.

But, we already knew that. We also knew that all of the criticism and doubters about the Chiefs coming into this season would be wrong.

But, there are some impressive stats out there that show the Chiefs won’t be slowing down anytime soon. They have run this division for so long now, and they will continue to, because, yes, they have Patrick Mahomes, but they also have Andy Reid.

The Chiefs have absolutely dominated the division, as we all know, but this year was a little different. It definitely meant more this season.

There were so many national media gurus to say the Chiefs wouldn’t win the division or make the playoffs, and now they are the number one seed, and won’t be playing on wildcard weekend.

Not only were they all wrong, but they were very wrong. Then, this season the Chiefs went and swept the division, which doesn’t happen often in the AFC West. But, the Chiefs went 6-0, the third time they have done so in the Andy Reid era.

The last two times they did that was in 2016 before Mahomes was in the NFL, and in 2019 when the Chiefs won the Super Bowl.

Since 2013, when Reid was hired, the Chiefs are 43-17 against division opponents. Now, could the Chiefs fall off eventually, sure? These other teams will catch up, but not this year, and likely not the next.

And, even if they do catch up eventually, they don’t have Andy Reid or Patrick Mahomes on their team, which have been the two biggest reasons for the success since 2018. The Chargers look like they are on their way to being a very good team, but they aren’t yet.

They still have to go through the Chiefs, as does every AFC West team.
