Green Bay Packers star made a big mistake this week

Green Bay Packers star cornerback Jaire Alexander made a big (and completely avoidable) mistake this week ahead of his team’s game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. For some reason, Alexander decided to talk some trash about Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

Jefferson, as you likely recall, torched the Packers in week one, catching nine passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns in Minnesota’s 23-7 win. Earlier this week, Alexander called Jefferson’s big game against Green Bay a “fluke”.

“You’ve just got to be real, he don’t jump in no super suit and get dressed and jump outside, you hear me?” said Alexander on Thursday. “I don’t either, sometimes. But he [is] human is what I’m saying. We ain’t putting too much on nobody.

“He’s a really good receiver,” added Alexander. “But at the end of the day, I’m a really good corner. We’ve got really good corners. We’ve got really good linebackers, D-line, whatever it is. You don’t want to put too much focus on that one person because it’s like, the first game, that was a fluke.”

I’ll give Alexander props for calling Jefferson a top-three wide receiver, but suggesting his game was a fluke was ill-advised at best.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’ll never understand why players give out bulletin board material like this. Jefferson doesn’t need added motivation to have a big game against the Packers, but he got some via these foolish comments from Alexander.

Do your talking on the field — that’s the golden rule of football and Alexander broke it this week.
